National Evaluation and Monitoring Seminar
Rome | 10 December 2024 | Organised by Agenzia Italiana per la Gioventù

The National Evaluation and Monitoring Seminar of the PMM TCA programme was held in Rome on 10 December 2024, serving as a key opportunity to reflect on the impact of training activities co-funded by the Italian National Agency for Youth (AIG) in the context of the 2024 TCA strategy. The event created a space to analyse how these learning opportunities affected not only the participants but also the organizations they belong to and the communities they serve.

A preliminary online meeting took place on 5 December 2024 to break the ice among participants and introduce the digital tools used during the seminar. Two interactive Padlets were presented:

  • Let’s chat: introduce yourself, where participants were invited to share their latest TCA experience.
  • Mapping our organizations, where participants placed their organizations on the map of Italy and provided a brief description of their mission and work.

These tools fostered early interaction and laid the foundation for meaningful exchange during the in-person event.

The purpose of this report is to provide an overview of the seminar’s goals, participant profile, key themes, learning sessions, and outcomes.

The seminar aimed to create a space for shared reflection on the lived experiences of those who participated in TCA activities over the past year. Specifically, the event sought to:

  • Understand the individual, organizational, and community impact of participation in training activities.
  • Foster a constructive dialogue between beneficiaries and the Italian National Agency for Youth (AIG).
  • Encourage a forward-looking discussion on the future of the national training and cooperation plan.

The training sessions were designed to:

  • Encourage storytelling and sharing of TCA experiences from the past year.
  • Facilitate reflection on the impact of non-formal learning activities at multiple levels.
  • Analyse the factors that supported or hindered the transfer of new competences and practices into daily work.

The seminar brought together 27 participants from diverse regions of Italy, from Martina Franca to Bolzano, Bari to Turin. This territorial diversity enriched the dialogue, highlighting how TCA activities had differentiated effects across urban and rural contexts.

Several powerful testimonies emerged throughout the day, including:

  • A participant who secured a new job opportunity after attending a TCA in Finland.
  • Stories of school inclusion projects and advocacy initiatives launched in Brescia and Bolzano as a direct result of knowledge and motivation gained through TCA participation.

The National Evaluation and Monitoring Seminar provided a crucial space for analysis, learning, and connection. It demonstrated the long-lasting value of TCA experiences, not only in terms of competence development but also in shaping inclusive, sustainable, and community-driven youth work across Italy.
